A Welsh Labour MP has revealed the part he played at a Christmas party which contributed to the end of David Blunkett's political career.
Kevin Brennan explained how he played guitar as Mr Blunkett sang "Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, start all over again" at the annual works outing in Westminster, reports the Western Mail.
Soon after this episode, the former home secretary was sacked when news of the song became public knowledge.
Mr Brennan told the Western Mail: "I was in the upstairs room of the Albert pub in Victoria Street, Westminster, for what we call the annual works outing.
"It's very much an old Labour affair and is more like a working men's club do than a swanky reception."
Mr Brennan added that Mr Blunkett's parliamentary private secretary Andy Burnham asked if he could accompany the former cabinet minister as the song was sang.
Many London offices will currently be considering places such as Westminster as a venue for their Christmas parties this year.
