The Manchester United Christmas party in 2007 was a night to remember – especially for one girl who piqued disgraced footballer Wayne Rooney's interest.
The mammoth bash, held at the Great John Street Hotel in Manchester, had placed a strict ban on WAGS attending, but welcomed ex-Hollyoaks actresses and 100 beautiful shop girls.
Champagne was free-flowing and the players were out to party - singing terrace chants and leaping on chairs at the hotel.
Wayne's attention was caught by one girl, Sarah, who was at the party with her friend, also called Sarah.
“Rooney continued his comic turn, strumming a pretend guitar and saying, 'You can call me Justin Timberlake.' Then he joked 'You can be Beyonce' as he pulled me in close for a cheeky dance,” Sarah told a tabloid newspaper. “He seemed polite enough - and with zero ego,” she added.
As the DJ spun hip hop songs, players John O'Shea, Rio Ferdinand and Owen Hargreaves grabbed dance partners. Wayne approached Sarah to dance again and asked her to meet him in the hotel's bathroom.
“Don't you know that everyone is looking, Wayne. Let's just dance. And when he realised I wasn't budging he just continued weaving on the dancefloor, leaving us in hysterics,” added Sarah.
