Vanessa Feltz has been fined over £3,000 following a dozen complaints from neighbours about noise levels during a weekend London party she held in March this year to celebrate the 24th birthday and engagement of her daughter, Allegra.
The TV and radio presenter, who is famed for her outspoken nature, was not in court to hear the judgement and made no comment regarding the fine to the press waiting at her home. Ms Feltz lives in the upmarket area of St John’s Wood in northwest London in a house which was previously owned by the advertising tycoon Charles Saatchi.
Daniel Stevenson, who prosecuted the case, told the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court that complaints were first made by neighbours to the broadcaster on Saturday, 27 March. Noise patrol officers then warned Miss Feltz that it was ‘inappropriate’ to play music from a marquee in her garden in a residential district. It appears that the presenter ignored the warnings and further complaints were made. Despite this, the party resumed the following day.
Ms Feltz was fined £1,500 for the infringement and told to pay a further £1,715 in costs to Westminster City Council for what the court described as “most inconsiderate” noise level breaches.
