US council spends $2,000 on Christmas party
05/10/2006

London offices looking to plan their Christmas parties this year may take some tips from the US, where Richmond Hill City Council has spend $2,000 (£1,064) on a celebration for its staff.

At a council meeting this week, councillors voted to spend the four-figure sum on this year's festive celebrations, reports Savannah Morning News.

The decision was made while approving a new facade for homes in one part of the city, with Mayor Richard Davis indicating that "they deserve it".

In related Christmas party news, Coronation Street's festive episodes are being filmed, Life Style Extra reports.

Following the Underworld clothes factory's decision not to pay for a Christmas party, the workers take it upon themselves to raise the funds.

A darts match between staff and bosses is organised, with the losing team having to pay for Christmas dinner for the whole group.

Janice Battersby is left to throw the vital winning dart to ensure that the workers get their festive food for free.
