New Order and former Joy Division bass player Peter Hook has teamed up with ‘The Complete Stone Roses’, the Scots tribute band to record a version of ‘Love will Tear Us Apart’ for the charity Cancer Research.
The band are one of the more popular tributes in the UK, and have already raised £17k for the charity and hope to raise another £10k from the single release.
The brand new, reworked version of the classic hit will be available for download from 23rd June from most online music stores. And fans will also be able to pre-order a copy of the single via text – just text ROSES to 78789.
As well as featuring Peter Hook, the track will also feature XFM DJ and keyboardist for Inspiral Carpets Clint Boon. The single will be produced at the legendary Parr Street Studios (Coldplay, Echo and The Bunnymen) in Liverpool
The manger of the Complete Stone Roses tribute band, Peter Lamb, said that everyone knew somebody who has been affected in some way by cancer and that the band were keen to do their bit in raising funds and awareness for the charity.
