London is full of great venues and parks all holding free summer events this year. Here are some of our top picks:
• Free Fringe Festival featuring comedy and performances from this year’s Edinburgh Festival. The events are taking place at various London venues from 6-30 August.
• London’s fantastic South Bank Centre always has free musical performances to enjoy while sipping a drink from the spacious bar area. It will also host the Coin Street Festival this year so visitors will see even more entertainers milling around the place than usual.
• Catch a free West End show over the West End Live event taking place in Leicester Square on 20 and 21 June.
• The Globe theatre is offering free performances of Shakespeare classics such as Romeo and Juliette on 13 June. The event follows its extensive restoration.
• The Scoop near City Hall is offering free fitness classes throughout the summer and will also host a range of events and parties such a dance, music and film performances.
• Throughout June the Story of London festival will be hosting lots of free events around the city, telling the story of the history of the majestic capital city.
• If festivals and parties are more your thing, most of London’s parks are hosting huge music events this summer. Some are free or charge very little for entry.
