Country star Toby Keith is set to release a festive album this year, in time for the Christmas party season.
The album will contain an equal number of religious and non-religious songs. Working mainly with acoustic instruments, the singer says: "I did 10 Christian and 10 Santa Claus songs. One disc has White Christmas and Frosty the Snowman kind of songs. The other has very Christian-type songs like Little Drummer Boy and Silent Night."
Toby Keith enjoyed huge commercial success through out the 1990's scoring five number one albums in the Billboard Top Country Albums chart as well as fifteen number one singles in the Country Songs chart.
Keith has also faced some controversy: in 2001 he penned a song called Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American) following the September 11 attacks. The song was based on the patriotism of his father, who was killed in a car accident the same year, but Keith would initially only perform it at his concerts for the military.
When the Commandant of the Marine Corps, James L. Jones, told the singer it was his duty to record and perform the song, Keith did so and it became a number one hit.
The singer is no doubt hopeful that his new album will enjoy the same success, and will be played at many a Christmas party during the festive season.
