If your office is throwing a party or you have been invited to someone else’s London office party here are some tips to ensure you survive the experience and have an enjoyable time.

Firstly, remember to focus on having a good time during the party. You could be at home doing chores or some other mundane task.

Use this office party as a situation for exploration of yourself. Try on a new look or personality to liven up the party and make it more fun for yourself.

If you spot someone you might like to get to know more but they ignore you or turn out to be a bore then move on to someone else. The annual office party is normally not the place to find your soul mate. Hold back on the flirting for another time with someone you really want to use it on.

Moderate your drinking to ensure that you don’t let down your guard. If you have had one too many you might like the person with the bad pick-up line. This person could also be someone in charge of your next promotion who you should stay on good terms with.

Stay polite even if you would rather be talking to someone else. Try to show some interest and start a conversation with that person. But if that person starts to get too close for comfort tell them you have a girlfriend or boyfriend.

Lastly, make sure you have a safe plan for getting home, especially if you plan to drink during the office party.
