The world-famous London nightclub Pasha may have closed down, but two new "superclubs" have emerged to rival its memory as London's signature nightclub.
The first is Matter, a 33,000 sq. ft. nightclub housed in the 02 Arena in Greenwich. With capacity for 2,600 revellers, Matter is hi-tech, modern and its ceilings are punctuated with LCD TVs. There are good views of the stage on all three levels of the club, and back of the main room has been fitted with amphitheatre-style seating.
Matter's much-hyped "bodykinetic" dance floor consists of 80 transducers pounding to the music, which accompanied UNKLE's mass-guitar assault at the launch of the club.
The Independent has described Matter as "pleasingly intimate ... with the look of a blinged-up warehouse."
Meanwhile, in London's West End, new nightclub Vendome has replaced Pangea. Given that they've allegedly spent a quarter of a million pounds on the dancefloor alone, it's surely something of a relief to the owners that their new West End nightclub has already been populated by plenty of celebrities.
Kate Moss, Russell Brand, Daisy Lowe and Michelle Collins have all been photographed partying at Vendome.
