Retailers Predict Top Christmas Gifts

Christmas party hosts now have advice on gifts for family and friends. Trends this year include electronic equipment and hot gadgets, entertainment items and toys.
Robin Goad, Research Director of Hitwise UK reports: “The Nintendo Wii is the most searched for gaming console in the UK, ranking as the sixth most popular gadget heading into Christmas, ahead of the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo DS.” Other popular items for the Christmas party and holiday season include mobile phones, iPods, and satellite navigation systems. Hitwise also says Christmas party guests will be gathering around more high definition televisions this year as these items are set to sell quickly before the new year. The top mobile phone manufacturer according to UK Internet searches is Nokia followed by Sony Ericsson and Samsung. Motorola phones are also predicted to be popular this year. Hitwise reports iPods are searched online 15 times more than other MP3 players which could indicate a sales drive for the Christmas season. Entertainment and fashion items will also be popular for the Christmas party season, although high street retailers expect a slow buying season this Christmas.
