To avoid having to wear the fat pants on New Year's Day, consumers should limit their festive eating to the celebratory days themselves, a fitness expert claims.
Arthur LaRocque of Tewksbury's Planet Fitness in the US suggests that people should eat what they like on the actual days of celebration, like Christmas Day and New Year's Eve, the Tewksbury Advocate reports.
The fitness expert also advises consumers to carry healthy snacks, such as fruit and nuts, in order to stave off hunger pains when they occur.
"People should enjoy the holidays, but limit it to the days themselves," he says.
"Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Year's Eve - that's only four days. The trick is to end the feasting when the day is over and not let it become the pattern of eating for the month."
Mr LaRocque adds that people make unwise choices when they are hungry, which can increase their calorie intake.
According to IFA Promotion, one of the main new year resolutions for UK consumers is to get fit and healthy in 2007.
