The recession is not dimming enthusiasm for the annual office party, research has suggested.
While the downturn may have led to some luxuries falling by the wayside, many workers in the UK are unwilling to let it stand in the way of their celebrations.
According to a survey of 200 employees in the marketing, healthcare, hospitality and professional services sectors, 60 per cent would like to see their Christmas party go ahead regardless of the recession.
Furthermore, 85 per cent said the office party is not just a throwaway luxury, but rather an essential morale boost for the nation's employees.
Events director Alexandra Sibley, who carried out the study, said the respondents were enthusiastic in their response, proving that the office party is a subject "close to their hearts".
"A Christmas do is a tradition in this country and one that the great British working public are not willing to do without," she remarked.
She added that the downturn does not have to signal an end to the Christmas party, noting that it is possible to deliver an enjoyable office bash even if it means careful cost cutting.
