Pets Get Ready for Christmas Parties
29/10/2007

With the Christmas party and holiday season around the corner, style-conscious pet owners are taking their dogs to the salon. Fancy dress for the pooch is becoming a popular option to show off an owner’s pet at a Christmas party. Little Rufus can spend a few minutes socializing with Christmas party guests at home before he is put away for the evening.

In some families the children are in charge of selecting hair colour and style for a dog’s Christmas party introduction. An 11 year old from Cameron Toll in Edinburgh has dyed her dog Zoe’s hair pink and purple but decided on red for the Christmas season.

"I used to have my hair pink and we always colour co-ordinate," she says. "I have pink Ugg boots, pink jewellery, pink clothes. Everyone stops Zoe in the street since she had it done. People think she's cool."

Christmas party pampering options for dogs include doggie baths, hair colouring, hair styling, nail trimming and painting. Most dog grooming companies offer these options and will also do custom grooming if there is a certain style the owner requests.

Joanne's Dog Grooming Salon owner Joanne says she once sprayed her own pup red for Red Nose Day and recommends checking out doggie fashion to add to the Christmas party and holiday vibe.
