'People partying more' as New Year's Eve draws closer
30/10/2006

With Christmas and New Year's Eve approaching, people are partying harder than before, a new report reveals.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, hedonism has returned and it is being led by today's celebrities such as Britney Spears' husband Kevin Federline.

David Grant, a VIP party organiser in Sydney, New York and other major cities around the world, believes the celebrity circuit is reminiscent of the Studio-54 days of the 1970s, which were dominated by disco music and partying.

"We're running events so we stand around supervising in a sober state while people become less and less sober and we see how they behave, or rather, misbehave," Mr Grant told the publication.

"People are drinking more and more people are going out more afterwards. People used to go to one thing - now they go to two or three."

He added that "people are partying harder and longer".

Earlier this month, Business Week suggested that New Year's Eve is the biggest party night on the calendar.
