People are getting back into the party spirit this Christmas, according to one London events expert.
In Events magazine, Chantelle Dietz wrote it seems that many companies are viewing the subdued seasonal celebrations of last year as penance enough for the overindulgent parties of the Noughties.
She said many companies would be laying on extravagant spreads for their workers this year, but not going quite as far as the notorious pre-recession excessive Christmas events.
One London party planner said people were looking to organise big parties, but that there was an altogether different attitude being taken towards it.
"The biggest thing that has changed for us is we have become busier, with new enquiries much earlier in the year," she said. "Our first booking was on 4 January. People did miss out last year when they left it far too late to book the best venues."
She added that companies were wanting to get the most out of their money, so had booked early to be able to take their pick and not have to resort to over-priced leftover options.
She said it was obvious, however, that people still had the effects of the recession on their minds and that the Christmas party business was being mindful of that.
"Venues and agencies have been quick to adapt to current demands," she explained, "With many freezing and, in some cases, even reducing their prices for 2010, as well as introducing a range of budget-friendly, flexible options."
