The family of a nine-year-old girl who died of cancer on New Year’s Eve 2006 have raised thousands of pounds in her memory.
Children’s cancer charity CLIC Sargent have received £10,910 from the family of Tori Tucker, who was diagnosed with a brain tumour in April last year and died on New Year's Eve.
In September last year, the family began fun-raising by organising a series of events in and around their local area of Claverham in Somerset. The events have included a 70s disco at Claverham Village Hall, a quiz, a jumble sale, and a dinner and dance at Mendip Spring Golf Club. The fund-raising continued after Tori’s tragic death on New Year’s Eve.
Tori's aunt, Rosemary Tucker, said: "Friends and relatives have been so supportive of each event and local businesses have been very generous with raffle prizes.
"I work at Churchill Community School which held a gospel choir concert and raised over £1,000. My son Sam raised money by running the London marathon.
"We would like to thank everyone for helping to raise such an incredible amount of money.”
