New book solves office Christmas party outfit dilemma
October 13, 2010

A new book will bring an end to those dilemmas over what to wear to the office Christmas party.

Nina Garcia's "What to Wear for Every Occasion" Look Book covers all sorts of events, from meeting the future in-laws for the first time, to what to wear to a cocktail party.

Garcia's office party attire suggestions feature a quick list of "don'ts" such as "Keep ruffles to a minimum: you aren't frivolous; you're a powerful career woman."

Depending on how formal the event is, the outfit rules can change, adds Garcia. “For a cocktail party, a simple, elegant sheath is recommended along with a vintage broach, a scarf and heels that let you make a fast escape so you can run and meet your date for real fun when the party is over,” she says.

Alongside the outfit advice is a quote from comedienne Phyllis Diller which reads, "What I don't like about office Christmas parties is looking for a job the next day."

The book also offers handy advice on hair, make-up, what to carry in your handbag and even fashion, wine and holiday trivia that will give you something to talk about at the party.

The hard-cover book is also bursting with funny illustrations by Ruben Toledo.
