People worried about talking to fellow guests should practice their social interaction skills on timid and nerdy looking groups. This builds confidence, the book indicates.
Additionally, conversations should not begin with questions about what people do for a living, as the answers could be dull or stoke up sensitive issues, the author writes.
Tips are also offered on making the party environment more comfortable for guests – these include moving furniture closer together and filling rooms with people.
