The pressures of work are getting the best of British citizens as one in ten businessmen and women will work through Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day this year.
Clydesdale Bank conducted a survey about work during the festive season. The poll asked 500 businesses questions about the pressures of work over Christmas and New Year’s Eve. 11% of workers said they have had to miss out on family time during the holidays because of work commitments.
Mike Williams, Clydesdale Bank’s business banking general manager says: “If there was one day in the year that you’d expect most people to put work to one side, it would be Christmas Day, but these findings are testament to the fact that Brits just don’t know when to say stop when it comes to work.”
The survey shows people in Yorkshire appear to spend the most time with family over the holiday season and away from work. Just 3% of the workers polled had missed Christmas Day or New Year’s Eve because of their jobs. 23% of people in the East Midlands reported missing Christmas Day with family because of work.
