London tops list for stag and hen party venue

London was voted the top place to hold a stag or hen party in a recent poll by Wedding Ideas magazine and accommodation booking site, Hotels.com.

It seems that women are far more likely to stay in the UK for their hen parties and spend an average of £118 per person on their pre-wedding blow out. Men are more keen to go abroad for a weekend or longer and spend a whapping £180 each on celebrating.

For women, nine of the top ten favourite destination for hen parties were in the UK, with London topping the list. In total, 69 per cent of brides stay in the UK for their hen dos.

Things were very different among the men, with 32 per cent planning to celebrate abroad. However, London was still the favourite spot, beating Prague and Amsterdam as top destination for grooms-to-be.

The editor of Wedding Ideas, Rachel Moschke, says that women often prefer to stay in the UK for their parties in order to save money that can be spent on the big day. However, men obviously have different priorities and are happy to blow the budget on a weekend away abroad.
