London partygoers embracing War era themes
June 15, 2010

A new kind of celebration is being embraced by revellers across London – the Blitz party.

With wartime nostalgia as the main theme, partygoers are donning retro clothing to enjoy an evening of swing music and cocktails harking back to a bygone era.

The London parties – which are the brainchild of Mark Holdstock – are currently taking place every four to five weeks at various locations around the capital.

To keep the evening as authentic as possible, entry is only permitted to those wearing vintage clothes from the forties.

Mr Holdstock said the events are proving a success with partygoers who are looking for something a little more niche.

"We get people that know how to have a party and have probably been going to parties and clubs for quite a while - older than your new, younger clubbers," he explained.

Mr Holdstock said many of the people attracted by such a theme are seeking something "interesting and inclusive", which may be of note to those looking for fresh ideas for office parties.

The recent June event – which was held to coincide with D-Day landings - sold out several weeks in advance and was attended by some 1,000 revellers.
