The mayor of London says to plan ahead to enjoy New Year’s Eve to the fullest. He has released a special message for London citizens including information on how to have a fun and safe night.
The New Year’s Eve website containing the message is www.london.gov.uk/newyearseve. The link gives information to people who are planning to view London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display which will be set off from the British Airways London Eye. Information includes tips on where to see the fireworks and safety tips for the evening.
London citizens are encouraged by the mayor to enjoy public transport on New Year’s Eve instead of driving.
Mayor Ken Livingstone says: “London’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display is world famous and the capital one of the best places in the world to be during the festive season. The success of the display is down to the many organizations, including police, transport and local authorities, that come together to provide a stunning backdrop to the captial’s celebrations.
“Hundreds of thousands of people will be in central London on New Year’s Eve and they should plan ahead to get the best out of the night’s festivities. Whatever you do and wherever you are bringing in the New Year have a safe and enjoyable night and my best wishes for 2008.”
