Children can get involved in New Year's Eve celebrations by taking digital pictures of the party guests, according to consumers writing into a US magazine.
Additionally, they can involve themselves in the festivities by handing out party hats and noisemakers before midnight, Parenting reports.
One reader of the magazine suggests that kids "love" to be put in charge of some of the party planning.
Following this pattern, Carol Benavides from Cumberland, Rhode Island, indicates that her kids are made to make some of the costumes for the New Year's Eve party, including colourful hats and mini-wreaths.
Jana Skaggs-Garcia, from Kapolei, Hawaii, wrote into the magazine to say: "The kids help take digital pictures of everyone, then we download them onto DVDs and hand them out to each family member before he or she leaves."
Parenting magazine also offers readers the chance to submit their tips for party food, as it requests advice from the US public.
