Keep it loud and fun to stay awake on New Year’s Eve.
28/09/2007

If you are one of those people who is normally in bed by 10pm and you find staying up till midnight hard at the best of times then here are some tips to help you stay awake at this year’s New Year’s Eve party.

Stick with friends and family who you know will keep you going. Being stuck with the party bore will not help to keep you awake so find stimulating interaction with those that will make you laugh, make you dance and make you sing.

Keep the decorations bright and noisy. Lots of streamers and noisemakers will help to keep the lids open. Vary the lighting or hire a disco ball and fireworks for more colour and fanfare.

Eat and drink lots too. This will keep you body active as it processes the food, which will keep you awake. Lots of high sugar products will give you a buzz and you don’t have to think about your diet till the next day.

Playing games that keep you moving, will also keep you awake and stimulated. Charades, jeopardy, anything that requires your brain to work and think will help and will also be a lot of fun.

Get on the dance floor and bust a move to stay energized. Hire a DJ or band that know which songs will keep guests moving and in a state of merriment. Request your favourites to help you stay on the dance floor.

If all else fails drink coffee but only enough to get you past midnight. You don’t want to be so buzzed that you can’t get to sleep when everyone else has gone home.
