The New Year’s Eve and Christmas party season will soon be upon us. Being invited to a party, soiree, dinner, cocktail evening or office party is a high possibility for many of us. The guests and how they behave make or break a party; they play an important role in developing and maintaining good party vibes.
In order to ensure you behave properly and help the host to throw a successful New Year’s Eve party follow these simple tips.
Always take something for the host. A small present will show your appreciation of the work they have put in to creating the party. If you know the host well take something unique to them otherwise flowers or a bottle of wine are a good bet.
If you are unhappy keep quiet. Smile and show your appreciation when you turn up, are presented with the food and entertainment and when you are leaving the New Year’s Eve party. Keep any grumbles, moans, complaints and dislikes to yourself as it will just put a damper on the whole mood of the party. It will show that you are ungrateful, rude and not willing to join in with the festive spirit.
If there are people at the New Year’s Eve party that you do not know make a point of mingling with them. New Year’s Eve parties are all about the social interaction and mingling; this is what makes them buzz. You may meet some new and interesting and even if you are more of a wallflower try to talk to at least one new person.
If the event is being held at your office or at the hosts home offer to help with tidying up once the event is over. It is a polite thing to do and will help to lighten the load of tidying up what could be quite a mess. Again, it shows your appreciation of the work that the host has done to make the New Year’s Eve party successful.
The one last New Year’s Eve party guest tip is to send a thank you card to your host after the party during the first week of the New Year thanking them for their hospitality and mention your enjoyment of the event.
