Hotels perfect for New Year’s Eve parties
13/09/2007

Are you sick of throwing every New Year’s Eve party at your place? Having the New Year’s Eve party at home can cause a large amount of stress and anxiety. You worry about your belongings getting damaged, the menu and wine that is just right and then tidying up the next day; not fun. So, why not have this year’s New Year’s Eve party at a place where there are a number of people who can help you to put on a successful party, such a chic and local hotel.

Hotel New Year’s Eve parties are becoming more and more popular. Travelodge recently researched how many people stayed in a hotel for New Year’s Eve and found an 84% increase (2005/2006 year) with around three million Brits using the relaxation and comfort of a hotel for their Christmas and New Year festivities. These figures are expected to continue to rise.

So, how can you make your next New Year’s Eve party a night to remember? Here are a few tips for hotel New Year’s Eve parties.

Hiring a hotel room to throw your New Year’s Eve party allows you and your guests to have the most amount of fun they can. You can stop sweating the small issues and focus on your guests and enjoying the party. You can create the best atmosphere for a New Year’s Eve party at a hotel.

Think about the type of people that you want as your New Year’s Eve party guests. Mix it up and ensure that those people you invite will help to create the vibe that you want for the New Year’s Eve party.

Have a selection of yummy cocktails and drinks ready for your guests to pick up as soon as they walk in the door. This will stop them feeling uncomfortable when you ask them what they would like to drink as soon as they walk in the door. Get the hotel to lay out some of their favourite and most popular drinks for your guests to choose from and then they can have the option of choosing one of those or going to the bar.

Get the party started and maintain the buzz by encouraging your guests to interact with each other. A great ice breaker is a quick New Year’s Eve party game such as getting each guest to write a New Year’s Eve resolution on a piece of paper and placing it into a hat. Then they can be read aloud during the meal and the other guests have to guess who wrote the resolution. Keep it fun and lively and your guests will feel like they can relax and enjoy themselves.

For decorating the hotel room look at what you can use to increase the chances of your guests having a better, more memorable time. Use centrepieces that your guests can talk about with each other such as using New Year’s Eve icons in vases along the table. Table place cards can also be interactive. Write people’s names on them along with “Most likely to… in the next year” or ask them to perform a certain task throughout the evening such as using a certain word in conversation or a certain action, like a mini dare.

If you like to give party favours set the table with them. For example use unique champagne flutes that people can take home with them and attach their names to each one. You can also hand out special flowers or quirky New Year’s Eve decorations for people to wear. Keep all your decorations in line with a theme that you would like to create for the New Year’s Eve party. It could be by the decade such as a 1950’s New Year’s Eve party or a sci-fi New Year’s Eve party.

Hype up the most important count down of the year with fun activities and games such as a piñata shaped like a disco ball or costumes and wigs people can wear to let loose while they dance the night away.

The biggest benefit to a hotel is that it is safer for all your guests. They can book a room, wander merrily up to it when they feel like it and drop into a comfortable bed only meters away from the actual New Year’s Eve party venue. Then you can continue the New Year celebrations with a New Year’s Day brunch at the hotel with all your guests.
