Londoners visiting the New Year's Day Parade in the capital will find it an accessible event to attend following the announcement of free parking.
An occasion as "auspicious" as this traditional celebration deserves such a gesture, according to Alastair Gilchrist, director of parking at Westminster City Council.
It is the 21st anniversary of the event and the Masterpark car park venues will create over 5,000 spaces for vehicles to park in.
In total, there will be 15 free parking locations across London for the event, which starts at 12:00 GMT.
Bob Bone, parade executive director, welcomed the announcement, saying that the money saved could be donated to the variety of charities which will be present at the event.
"We should pass the million pound mark this year," said Mr Bone.
"This gesture should mean a major cash boost to charities right across the capital. I applaud Masterpark and Westminster City Council for truly entering into the festive spirit."
The New Year's Day Parade has in the past involved a marching elephant, a world-record attempt and a fire-breathing dragon.
