It is many months until the Christmas party season gets underway but it seems some people are hedging their Christmas bets already for the festive number one spot in the charts.
Not only that, but it appears one particular individual is especially confident of success at the bookies. William Hill has revealed that a four-figure bet has been placed on newcomers RyanDan to take the Christmas party chart topper.
Given the fact that the punters "have had considerable success predicting the festive chart topper in the past", the firm has shortened RyanDan's odds from 12/1 to 8/1.
William Hill spokesman Rupert Adams said: "It's a surprise to have such a large wager put on a relative newcomer so early in the year. We have to hope that someone doesn't know something that we don't about RyanDan!
"They've been described as a classical version of Westlife and we have had our fingers burnt badly by Westlife in the past so we will be keeping a very close eye on RyanDan."
Canadian twins Ryan and Dan Kowarsky join Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts, who also has odds of 8/1, in the fight for the festive top spot. The Spice Girls at 5/1 are contenders as well, but leading the field at 2/5 is the winner of X Factor 2007, whose debut single is sure to be played at every Christmas party in the land.
RyanDan are signed to Universal Classics & Jazz and are releasing their debut eponymous album on 24th September 2007 – just in time for their tracks to be played at Christmas party celebrations across the country.
