Fancy dress parties all the rage in London
July 23, 2009

It seems that adults never grow out of wanting to play dress-up and costume parties are in vogue again this season – but with a little more flair and imagination than the ones we all went to as teenagers.

Costume parties with imaginative and escapist themes are popping up all over London and some of the capital’s trendiest venues and clubs.

Polly Betton and Shoreditch bar owner, Johnny Vercoutre, run a costume party firm called White Blackbird. Themes have so far included Colourscapes and English Eccentrics. These types of themes leave much up to interpretation, allowing partygoers to be as creative and daring as they wish.

Many of the most avid fancy dress party fans buy outfits that could potentially be costumes throughout the year, pulling the right pieces out when an appropriate theme comes along. Much of what is worn is a mixture of vintage clothes and high street finds, teamed with crazy accessories. It just takes a bit of imagination, claim the costume party enthusiasts.

Crazy hairdos and make-up to match are the essential finishing touches to any costume. This adds the glamour factor, which really put you in the party mood. If you'd like to hold a private party for your company, we'd be happy to help you organise the venue, food, drink and entertainment.
