Employers advised on Christmas parties
June 16, 2010

business owners will be wise to be fully aware of their responsibilities when it comes to organising the office Christmas party.

While the festive season may still seem some way off, most of us are starting to look into booking our christmas parties already. Although office parties are there to be enjoyed it's worth bearing in mind that companies should avoid any incidents at their party which could have unwanted repercussions, said employment health and safety service Northgate Arinso.

The group notes that an employer is often still liable for any claims that should arise, even if the celebrations are taking place away from the office.

For this reason, companies should make sure their staff are fully aware of employee conduct, particularly where alcohol is concerned.

Once the party is in full swing and the drinks are flowing freely, employees should still be careful not to be faced with any of the top ten Christmas party regrets.

These include insulting the boss, telling co-workers unwelcome home truths, being sick in public and causing damage to the party venue.

The group advises all employers to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of employees. Even when the party draws to a close - taxi firms need to be on hand at your London Christmas party to so revellers are not tempted to drive home.
