Drinking venues ready for smoking ban
18/05/2007

Three quarters of hospitality companies in the UK say they are fully prepared for the new nationwide smoking ban, according to a survey from Beacon, the purchasing group.

It seems that most businesses are fairly comfortable with the level of preparations they have made to date for the ban, which comes into force on 1st July 2007.

This follows a successful implementation of the ban in Scotland, the first country in the United Kingdom to do so.

88% of hospitality businesses around the country agree that the new no-smoking legislation is a good idea.

Russell Davey of West End Events went so far as to predict that their upcoming events and Christmas shows would be more enjoyable for the majority of their partygoers in those venues where smoking is currently allowed.

The Department of Health is stepping up awareness of the looming ban with the launch of a nationwide television campaign beginning this week.
