In an attempt to help people avoid drinking irresponsibly over the festive season, Drinkaware, the responsible-drinking charity, has launched a video called ‘How to Survive the Office Christmas Party’ on video download site YouTube.
The video, which is five minutes long, was made by VideoJug and is also available for viewing on Drinkaware’s own website, www.drinkaware.co.uk. It features a character called Alex who is off to his office Christmas party and follows Drinkaware’s tips for ‘a Christmas to remember,’ which include drinking soft drinks between alcoholic ones and not drinking on an empty stomach. The character’s colleagues fail to follow the rules and embarrass themselves by getting too drunk.
The light-hearted viral campaign, which is shot in the style of award-winning comedy, Peep Show, has already attracted 13,000 views in a single week.
The video is part of the charity’s Christmas campaign running throughout December, which also involves the distribution of tip cards with advice on sensible drinking. A million of the cards will be distributed in pubs, taxis and Guinness Premiership rugby games.
