Dress appropriately for New Year’s Eve parties
24/08/2007

With four months to go till New Year’s Eve now is the time to start planning what you will wear to the New Year’s Eve party.

New Year’s Eve is a special night when we can dress up in clothes that we have dreamed about and may never normally wear during the year. We can become transformed from corporate working woman or stay at home mum (or both) to a glamorous party chic. Make it fun and enjoyable right from the beginning of planning the outfit to wearing it to the New Year’s Eve party.

Here are a few tips on what you can do to transform yourself and have the New Year’s Eve party to remember. Firstly, think about the style you would like to wear to the New Year’s Eve party. This may be dependant on the type of party that you are going to. A New Year’s Eve celebration that consists of a classical music concert then dinner will suit a subtle and elegant look. If it is a club party go for a more informal and sexy style.

For a modern, subtle yet glamorous look make sure your hair and make up matches the style. Keep it modern so you don’t look frumpy or older than you are. A good style option for this type of New Year’s Eve party is to wear an outfit that comes in two parts such as a tailored skirt or pants with shiny top and matching jacket. But, don’t over do the glitter and shine; keep it simple and subtle so you don’t look like a Christmas bauble.

Less is more for a classical look. Think about your proportions as well. If you are on the smaller size in terms of height stay away from long black dresses or skirts as they may make you look smaller and sadder. Go for colours like white, red and black. Keep you tops tighter and bottoms more loose fitting so it’s comfortable around the stomach area, especially if this is an area of your body that concerns you. For a more festive feel use a dainty party purse with matching shoes and keep you makeup subtle but elegant. Perfect for a classical, elegant or formal New Year’s Eve party.

If you are off to a more informal party than you can let go and be freer in your clothing choices. The classical little black dress is perfect for that simple sexy look. Go for dresses with a bit more fun to them such as those that add metal belts or are halter neck. Choose a little black dress from the current runway trends to stay modern and trendy. Make your accessories fun and frivolous too with lots of colour and shine.

Go for smoky eyes, bright skin and deep lip colour for your make up. Add a little self- tanning lotion if you are looking a little pale, this will make the clothes look better as well as you. Keep you hair voluminous and sexy like those from the forties and fifties.

Remember to have fun and be comfortable in what you are wearing. Be creative but stay true to your own style and you will come out looking fab and gorgeous for your next New Year’s Eve party.
