Many companies are changing the name of their Christmas parties in order to cater for the diversity of the workplace, it has emerged.
The move comes as many of the nation's workers are now non-Christian, reports Penn State Live.
Consequently, a specialist in diversity at Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences, Patreese Ingram, has issued a number of guidelines to keep people happy over the festive period.
One piece of advice offered by Ms Ingram is for employers to plan the date of the Christmas party on a day that does not conflict with other religious celebrations.
Patreese Ingram, associate professor of diversity education, remarked: "Most employers want to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all of their employees, regardless of their religious or cultural beliefs.
"Therefore, more companies are rethinking the whole Christmas party, calling it a seasonal or holiday party."
Festive partygoers should be aware that there are now 19 shopping days until Christmas.
