A woman from Leicestershire is suing supermarket chain Asda for ruining her Christmas party after she allegedly found a frog in a bottle of wine she had bought from the store.
The woman’s Christmas cheer fell somewhat flat after she poured the Spanish Moscatel de Valencia, into her glass, only to be confronted with a small grey frog. The claimant is now in contact with a solicitor which is hoping to gain compensation for the woman who claims staff at her local Asda laughed and thought she was joking when she returned the bottle.
Asda claims it has no idea how a frog could have got into the bottle and that it certainly wasn’t in the bottle when it left Spain. It claims that the frog must have hopped into the glass from elsewhere. However, the woman insists it came from the bottle and added that the frog was not like the ones she had seen in her local area.
The woman is claiming compensation under the Sale of Goods Act claiming she had a legal contract with the supermarket for it to supply her with drinkable wine.
