Whilst we swelter in the midst of a British summer, one company is already dreaming of Christmas parties.
Taunton's Holiday Inn has already arranged its entire Christmas office party for this year, with a Christmas tree and gifts already stacked up outside the conference room - rather detracting from the spontaneity and magic of the festive season.
Even Father Christmas has already put in an appearance, almost a full six months ahead of schedule. Bosses decided to get into the festive spirit early to avoid the chaos of last minute preparations, says the Holiday Inn.
“Now Christmas is a chaotic time for everyone with so much going on but imagine if your Christmas party was booked and paid for so you can concentrate on all the other things going on at that time of year and most of all enjoy it without the stress of all the last minute staff party organising,” said a company spokesman.
In related news, Christmas shoppers will be happy to hear that charges will be waived in Wellington's car parks at Longforth Road, North Street and South Street on 27 November, when the Christmas lights will be switched on, and on December 4, 11 and 18 to allow for easier Christmas shopping.
The move aims to boost the town’s economy and follows Taunton Deane Council's decision to suspend charges in Wellington from 8am to 1pm on Tuesday, 14 September, when the Tour of Britain cycle race passes through.
