This year’s festive season is set to feature a number of star-studded TV specials.
A host of celebrities including David and Victoria Beckham are reported to have agreed to cameo roles in the last ever episode of Ricky Gervais’ hit comedy Extras. The Christmas special is rumoured to feature Madonna, George Michael and Clive Owen along with the Beckhams.
"Ricky is over the moon after getting confirmation from David and Victoria" a source told the Sunday Mirror. "He's still discussing how the Beckhams will appear, but they have indicated there is no limit to how silly they are prepared to look."
Many viewers are likely to be pressing the ‘record’ button before heading out to the Christmas party in light of Doctor Who’s celebrity offering: Kylie Minogue has signed on for a major role in the TV Christmas special.
The 39-year-old pop superstar will join David Tennant in the hour-long special called Voyage of the Damned, which starts filming in Cardiff later this month. The story will follow on directly from the conclusion of Series Three which finished at the end of June.
Kylie says: "It is an incredible thrill to be joining David and the entire Dr Who production for this year's Christmas special. Dr Who enjoys a unique history and it is going to be very exciting to be a part of that."
The programme’s executive producer and head writer Russell T Davies said: "We are delighted and excited to announce that Kylie Minogue will be joining the Doctor."
He added: "Doctor Who Christmas specials are always a joy and we feel very confident that this will be the most ambitious and best Christmas episode yet."
