Blooming Great Tea Party plea

Never has there been a more valid reason to host a tea party – Marie Curie Cancer Care is encouraging everyone to hold a party as part of its Blooming Great Tea Party campaign, which aims to raise £1 million.

Perfect for an office party or summer celebration, the tea parties will be taking place all across the UK with all profits going towards continuing the Marie Curie nursing services for terminally ill patients.

Every tea party, big or small, will help the cause and you can hold it wherever you like - at home, in the office or in a local park. While the official tea party date finished on July 12, the charity is keen to accept any late interest and encourages tea party enthusiasts to get brewing now.

Marie Curie has even launched a new iPhone application to support the campaign. The Blooming Great Tea Party application, which is free to download from iTunes, decides who is making the next round of teas. It allows users to enter names, photographs and drink choices of friends, including milk and sugar options. By spinning the wheel, the application nominates the next person to make the teas – with everyone’s drink details in their hand.

Fabian French, Director of Fundraising at Marie Curie Cancer Care, says, “Anyone can hold their own Blooming Great Tea Party. It’s a great way to have fun together with friends and family - and this new application makes it even more fun as well as more accessible.”
