Be Cabwise in London this Christmas

Party-lovers living it up in London this festive season are being reminded not to accept any offers from minicab drivers who approach them on the street.

Transport for London's Christmas campaign urges revellers to take the safer way home – and you've no excuse not to do exactly that with the help of the Cabwise service.

You just have to text CAB to 60835 and two minicab numbers and one black-cab number will be sent straight back to your mobile phone. You don't even need to tell TfL where you are because they'll be able to find you using GPS.

The cost of sending the text will be 35p plus your network operator's standard message rate.

"Any minicab journey that isn’t booked by phone or in a minicab office is illegal, dangerous and puts you at risk of sexual attack," TfL reminds party-goers. "Booking your minicab guarantees that your trip will be carried out by a licensed driver in a licensed vehicle."

Booking a cab also means a record of your journey, your driver and the vehicle used is kept, so a driver can be traced if any problems arise.
