Abba duo release first new songs in 15 years

Abba’s prolific writing duo, Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus have revealed they are releasing their first new songs for 15 years.

Benny said the pair has not written the kind of music they are famous for many years, “we haven't done any pop songs for a long time.” However, ‘Story of the Heart’, the first of two new singles, is to be released on the Benny Andersson Band’s new English language album. Benny says, "it's a nice prospect to be able to release music I've been doing for the last ten years, which is folk-oriented.”

The second song is called ‘Second Best to None’ and is performed by the staff at Benny’s hotel. They were singing at a party and he discovered that many of them sang in amateur choirs. He asked if they would like him to write them a song, and they jumped at the chance. Benny then enlisted Björn for the lyrical content and a new Benny/Bjorn track was born!

Story of the Heart is set for release in the UK on 6 July and you can catch the Benny Andersson Band playing live on Hampstead Heath on 4 July.
